History of the F.W.C.R.
In 1964 fifteen Pinellas County, Florida people
applied to become a chapter of the Florida Region AACA in Winter
Haven. We had to pick a President, Vice President, Treasurer
and Secretary. We also had to have a name and decided on
the the West Coast Chapter. Florida region approved and
the papers were sent to National. National approved us and
we officially became a chapter February 4, 1965.
In 1972 we applied to be a Region. The Florida Region
approved and sent our papers National which approved our club as
the Florida West Coast Region on February 4, 1973. The
last president of the West Coast Chapter was Steve Wooldridge,
and the first president of the Florida West Coast Region was Harold Walter.
Our region has also sponsored the approval of the
Hillsborough Region in Tampa and the Richey Region in New Port Richey.
We hosted a National Show in February of 1989 and in February 1998.
February 1998 also marks our 25th anniversary as a Region. We still
have three active members who are charter chapter members since 1964. |
