3 AM Racing |
Over the years the 3AM team has been a family affair. My wife (Connie) was very supportive. She took lap times and other things she could handle even though she had disabilities. Floyd our son helped with many aspects of car maintenence. Sam Stuckey,my nephew, helps by doing most of the setup and motor tuning. I drive the car and do the bulk of the body repairs and structural damage repairs that my driving skills have caused..lol or lack there of. We have always enjoyed talking with our fans and especially the young fans.I always try to get to the spectator side every night so our fans can have a chance to talk with me and share thier stories. The kids bring us a lot of joy and make what we do seem worth while. To see the youngsters faces on the special nights where they come into the pits is so enjoyable for us. Things will be a little different for the 3am team this year . Connie has passed on and Floyd has moved on to do other things with his life. Jeff Robertson not only owns the cars but helps out inth epits and the shop too. He's learning..lol . We hope our fans continue to support us with thier cheers and well wishes and enjoy the show we try so had to put on for them. |
About Our Number - 3 AM |
It seems where ever we go people want to know where we came up with the number "3AM". As we were building the sportsman truck I knew that we were going to try to incorporate the moon and the stars into the paint design. Our grandchildren love the moon and stars and yellow is our grand-daughters favorite color and blue is mine. We wanted to have a car that stood out in the crowd of "cookie cutter " race cars. It seemed like most race cars looked the same except for colors and we didn't want that so we spent a lot of time on "the image" we wanted to express. The number 3 has been one that has popped up in my life more than any other it seems. My wife and I have 3 kids. She was the third woman i ever dated, my clock number at every job I ever had has contained a 3 and so on. At the time my partner was Ray McMullen we combined the first letter of out last names and came up with 3AM. It seemed to be a natural since we worked that late nearly every night for several months to get the first racer ready for the track. When we put every thing together we had a racer with the moon and stars and a the number 3AM. It just clicked together and we get compliments and questions about it where ever we go. So I guess we accomplished our goal. |

Connie and I made many sacrifices to keep a car on the track. We both shared the love of the sport of dirt track racing. When the accumulation of several things ,including wage cuts and increased medical expenses for Connie's health issues, forced us to not have a car on the track in 2008 we were saddened but had faith we would return. In late June of 2008 ,Jeff Robertson , of Robertson EDM ,approched me to drive his car. His car is the b00p Rayburn as your may recall. The plan was to race the that car for the rest of the season. Of course we were glad to accept the offer. We are so thankful for the opportunity Mr. Robertson has given us. Connie and I have always believed that if it is meant to be it will be. Over the years somehow things have fallen into place to allow us to continue racing and believed when we were no longer able to support our own team , if we were meant to race something would come our way. We will again be in the Robertson EDM car this year. We are changing the number back to the familiar 3 AM . Jeff recognized that our fan base knew that number from all the years we ran it and willingly agreed to the change. We will also be using Blue as our primary color again but will have a litle different look than in the past with one car having a black deck and the back up having a white deck. With the passing of my wife Connie in December after a very long battle from many health problems, I am trying to imagine what the new season will be with out her by my side. I am even more appreciative of Jeff for sticking with me at this time and allowing me to continue as the driver of his cars. He is a good man with understanding and the same compassion for the sport that Connie and I have had for so many years. Thank you Jeff |

In Memory of Connie My wife of 36 years |
Connie Lee (Smith) Anderson September 19,1953 -- December 5, 2008 |
We have decided no to run Attica on April 24. This race is on our schedule but we want to focus on getting the back up car finished up before the ALMS season gets in full swing. |
Well the 2009 race season is underway with the Florida speed weeks racing at East Bay and Voulusia . We had hoped to make the trip but things didn't work out that way. We are looking at maybe running a couple races in March but nothing definate yet. We have picked up the pace to get things ready for the year. Plans Right now our plan is to follow the ALMS series to all of it's events. When ALMS races don't conflict with Oakshade we will be there. If nothing is on tap on Friday a night we could venture to Attica for UMP points or any place else within reason. We think we have the equipment to run up front this year and with a backup car we should not miss any events. We hope to finalize a tentative schedule soon and will have it posted as soon as it is complete . See all of you in the spring |
