I moved to New Hampshire - new state, new job, new apartment, new friends, so why not get a new car!  I found just what I wanted in the Eagle Talon - a white, turbocharged, all-wheel drive 210HP sports car.  For the next seven years, I drove it like 90% of the rest of the country - docile.

Then I discovered club DSM, an automotive club dedicated to making the Diamond Star Motors vehicles (Eagle Talon, Mitsubishi Eclipse and Plymouth Laser) accelerate harder and handle better.  My days of docile driving were over...

I ran the quarter mile in 15.4 seconds at 89 MPH.

6 months and $440* later, I ran 13.0 @ 106 MPH.

My record to date is 12.720 @ 108.02 MPH

Here's how I did it.

In '98, when I heard that the Eagle name was going to be discontinued, I started searching for a new Talon.  I finally purchased one of the last four turbo AWD Talons to be shipped to New England, and at $800 below dealer invoice!  They still made $200 from the $1000 factory to dealer incentive and all the hold-back, so we both made out well.

With the purchase of the red '98, the white '91 was relegated to an odd mix - Winter Driver and Drag Racer.  Nothing like driving a 350+ HP AWD sports car around in the snow!
