1997 marked the 30th Anniversary of the Chevrolet Camaro.
AND DID YOU KNOW???
Chevrolet was originally going to name the car "Panther" up until the final hours before the car was introduced to the public in 1966.
This is my 1968 Camaro RS convertible. The car has been redone in the original colors called Irmine white on the exterior with medium blue for the interior. It has a 350 with two barrel carb and powerglide automatic trans. It has taken me three years to restore. I did all the work myself with the exception of rebuilding the transmission and doing the final bodywork and paint. Restoration of these and other classic "pony cars" has become a very popular hobby. Many auto parts manufacturers are now producing new reproduction parts for these classic cars.
This is what the "ragtop" looked like before the restoration. It was
leaking and burning oil, leaking trans and radiator fluid. To say the
least it was a "beater" and although it had more bondo than metal in some
body parts; the frame, floor pans, and trunk pans were solid as a rock.
The car went through a frame up restoration process replacing all sheet
metal, new interior, rebuilt suspension, 350 engine, and Powerglide Trans.
General Motors calls these F-body cars which have cousins known as Pontiac
Firebirds. And yes, I put on an SS style hood which kinda makes the car look a little like the 67 SS/RS pace car which has the same color combo.
