Hi I'm Pat. Below are a few of my Mopars. NOTICE: DO NOT BUY WIRE WHEELS FROM STAR WHEELS AT 2000 S. GROVE AVE. #C ONTARIO, CA 91761! I purchased a set of US Wheel (McLean style) wire wheels for my Chrysler LeBaron and they began to rust within a week! The very first time they got wet in the rain they began to rust in mere hours. I specifically asked the sales guy while ordering if they were good quality and would not rust because I know that cheaper wire wheels ARE prone to rusting. He said "Oh no, these are top notch quality...no problems here." If that wasn't bad enough, they charged me for a set of lug nuts that I did NOT order and then they didn't even send them to me. I called and told them about it and the owner became a real ass and insisted that I DID order the lugs (as if I wouldn't have remembered) and that his sales guy said that they did put the lugs in one of the boxes with the wire wheel. It would be hard to overlook a bag with 20 lug nuts in it and if they were in the box with one of the wheels they would have bounced around and damaged the wheels because there was no packing material at all in the boxes. Plus, I had several sets of new lugs in my garage already and told them while ordering the wheels that I didn't need any lugs. So they billed me for them but didn't send them. Then they told me that I must have done something to the wire wheels to cause them to rust such as expose them to salt, steel wool, sand paper or something along those lines. I told them that they were on the car less than a week and I had not even cleaned them yet. He told me to clean them with a soft cloth and then spray them down with WD-40 to coat them and keep them from rusting. I did that and every bug and piece of dirt in town becan sticking to the WD-40 and the chrome wheels turned into black dirt collectors and looked terrible. I then wiped the dirt and bugs off and washed and dried the wheels and within 3 days all 4 wheels started to show rust again around the perimeter of the outer rim. I called Star Wheel again and they asked for a digital picture of the wheels so I took an up-close picture and emailed them to Star Wheel and got no reply. After several calls I finally got the owner on the phone again and he said that he couldn't see the rust because the picture was poor quality. Lies, lies, lies. He further acted like it was MY fault that the wheels were rusting. (I have no idea how they came to that conclusion, they make the wheels not me.) He said that if I took the wheels back off and sent them back (at MY expense) then he would look at them. He did not offer to replace them, he said they would examine them and let me know what they decided and if they decided to not replace them then I would have to pay them in advance to ship them back to me. So basically, I would have to pay the $80 in shipping three times! $240 in shipping for a $300 set of wheels. I told them that they should pay for UPS to pick up the wheels and send them back since it was a quality issue and the guy said "Yeah right, good luck on that one" and hung up on me. My next course of action was to call my credit card company and dispute the charges so I could get a refund. Well wouldn't you know, Star Wheel called me back in 5 minutes and they were MUCH nicer than before since the credit card company told them that they were going to reverse the payment.
