This

This
is my 1959 Volvo PV445. This picture was taken just shortly after
I purchased it in 1998.
I
have since taken most of it apart. My intentions are to make it,
for the most part, stock looking. While giving it the required
upgrades to make this a good reliable and cheap to repair
stunning daily driver.
Before I
purchased it the previous owner had;
- removed the
original front suspension and replaced it with a newer
122 suspension to gain front disc brakes,
- removed the
original rear end and replaced it with a newer 240 rear
end to gain rear disc brakes,
- frenched in
a set of tail lights from a toyota pickup
- replaced
the original B-16 engine with a newer B-20 engine,
- replaced
the original front seats with newer seats from a 142,
- installed a
slightly screwy brake, clutch and throttle pedal,
- replaced
the original brake slave cylinder with a newer 240 brake
booster and master cylinder,
Now that I have
owned it, I decided to correct some of the "jury riggin"
that he had done and do the updates the right way. I have;
- removed the
122 front end and choped the patched up frame rails,
- welded in
new thicker frame rails,
- installed a
newer 140 front end to gain disc brakes and regain the
same bolt pattern,
- welded in
new floorboards with transmission tunnel,
- installed
new brakelines from the master cylinder to the wheels,
- installed
an IPD street performance rebuilt engine with all the IPD
goodies,
- installed a
M-41 5 speed overdrive transmission,
- welded in
stronger seat supports and installed the original 445
front seats,
- Things that
I intend to do to finish this car off;
- paint the
car completely interior, exterior and engine compartment,
- install a
new custom instrument cluster with digital read-out
guages,
- re-upholster
the original 445 seats, door panels, and all side panels,
- make and
install a new headliner,
- shave the
door handles and create a handleless entry system,
- install
power windows on the front doors and have them actuated
via original window cranks,
- install a
complete custom stereo system including amp, speaker box,
remote deck with cd changer,
- put on a
set of 225-50-16 V-Sport wheels from IPD.
Once
all this is completed, this will be one of the slickest Volvos on
the street.
When
I titled this car, I was told that there were only 24 other PV445's
that are registered in the USA. It is truely a rare car and a fun
ride to own.
This
is an example of a rare PV445 in great shape.
