From the very first classic until today's future classic, I have always liked Mustangs. I can still remember my dad's blue 1970 Mach 1 and how as a kid, I thought we had the fastest car around (maybe we did). However, I really caught "Mustang Fever" when the SN-95's were introduced. In my opinion, the styling of these fourth generation stangs are what make the Mustang what it is - A LEGEND.
After searching for a Mustang that fit my military budget, I found what I was looking for on 5 March 1995. The car was a left-over 1994 GT Coupe with beautiful teal metallic paint and a two-tone gray and black cloth interior. It had all the options, including the Mach 460 Sound System, Remote Keyless Entry, 17 inch Tri-spoke aluminum wheels, Color-keyed Floor Mats, the legendary 5.0L and an AODE transmission. It also had only 37 miles on it. The dealer stated people didn't like the color (which I couldn't see why) and wanted it GONE! After dropping nearly $4,000 off the sticker, needless to say, this Mustang was mine.
I enjoyed the stock performance and look of my Mustang until I picked up an issue of 5.0 Magazine. Unlike most of you out there, I first chose to modify my Mustang for the show circuit with a few bolt-on goodies here and there, however I do plan on alot of performance modifications in the near future. My goal is to have a low 13, high 12 second car, naturally aspirated.
I really enjoy competing in car shows with my Mustang. Although open shows are fun, Mustang Shows are the best. There is nothing better than pulling into the tech area of a Mustang show and seeing all those classics, Shelbys, Boss, Mach's Mustang II's FOXs and SN-95s lined up.
