Kent Commercial Sports prides itself on being a truly professional and very competent team with a wealth of experience and they are highly motivated by their success.
The team is owned and directed by Mr Graham J.Jones, who has been involved himself in Truck Racing over the past 12 years. Graham, along with other members of the team, many of whom gained valuable experience on the European Grand Prix circuit, has made Kent Commercials a highly respected team within the sport, so much so that many awards have been given to the team for their endeavours and services to Truck Racing.

The team works closely with it's sponsoring companies, firstly by understanding and apreciating their requirements, then ensuring the sponsors obtain the best advice for on truck advertising and off track activities. This incorporates hospitality, trade events and promotional support, together with all the other benefits that come from a Top Class Championship Sport, not only attracting tabloid/sports magazine coverage but now because of the ever increasing popularity of Truck racing, also includes the addition of terestrial and satellite television coverage.
Kent Commercials Sport over the years are pleased to have been associated with many large and prestigious companies such as Mobil, Continental Tyres, and Pagid to name but a few. Results then and still now, are high. 1996 saw the team winning the British Truck Race Championship and in 1997 not only finished third in the same competition despite missing 2 rounds but they also finished 7th in Europe, standing on the winners podium no less than 7 times. The winning of the 24 hour Le Mans, Race Truck version , plus their domination of the final meeting at Donnington, even over the Super Trucks, topped a good season for the team.
The team finished 8th in the 1998 championship, their position being caused by the truck having a severe shunt a couple of meetings ago and it required specialist work to straighten it, also a no race being declared and then once half the teams had left, the organisers decided to re-run it didn't help. Ah well there's always next season to look forward to.
The 45 year old haulage contractor has been truck racing since the first event held at Silverstone in 1985. During that inaugural year Chris raced a DAF truck which was basically a road going vehicle with a roll cage. The competition being less fierce in those days, Chris regularly finished in the top ten while learning the techniques of the art of truck racing. The following year Tucker changed to a specially prepared ERF and promptly won his first two races at Brands Hatch. To complete his successful weekend he also won on four wheels, taking honours in the celebrity race with a Ford Escort XR3. He continued and travelled with his ERF to the continent to contest the European Championship.
The following seasons provided a sharp learning curve for the Tucker team. With wins at Hungaroring and second and third places in Denmark, Tucker finally made his first mark finishing 7th in the European Championship.
In 1989 changing to an American Ford Louisville, Tucker achieved a string of third and fourths behind the factory backed machinery which had emerged in Europe. A titanic battle in the German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring saw Tucker finish 3rd in front of 168,000 spectators, leaving even the mighty Mercedes team in his wake. Back in Britain Tucker won the Eaton Fuller Trophy at Brands Hatch and finished 2nd in the British Championship.
1990 saw Tucker taking 2nd & 3rd places in th A finals in the Lydden Truckspeed Series, then back on the rostrum at the Brands Hatch events later that season.
The start of 1991 saw more great class B action at Brands with Tucker finishing 3rd on the Saturdays race, narrowly losing 2nd to the mighty Mobil team but reversing the tables on Sunday to take a memorable 2nd place behind the works Sisu team. More success was to follow by winning the 1991 Lydden Truckspeed Championship which is a series run over six events.
Once again in 1992,1994,1995 saw more additions to the trophy cabinet: Brands, 3rd at Racefest June 92, 2nd & 3rd in September Lucas Truckprix meeting 1992, 2nd at Paul Ricard and Brands, 2nd in the British Championship.
Chris is now established as one of the top competitors in the Race Truck class events. This being confirmed in 1997 at the last event on the Donnington circuit by Tucker once again taking the day leaving even the factory Cat Team Super Truck behind. This win gave the Kent Commercials Team 3rd in the British Championship despite missing 2 of that years meetings. Tuckers ambition for 1998, an achievable one, is to win the British Championship and progress further up the European rankings. Both Chris and Kent Commercial Racing believe that they are ideally positioned to provide a sponsor with a strong return for their investment. They have the team skill, experience and professionalism for a successful partnership.
