These are pictures of my 1957 Buick Special.

In the year 1957, the average car sold in the $2,700 bracket. The average worker made $4,200 per year. The popular movies back then were "The Bridge on the River Kwai" and a little movie called "Jailhouse Rock" with Elvis Presley. The TV shows consisted of Leave It To Beaver, Perry Mason, and Wagon Train.

Dick Clark started up American Bandstand while the Everly Bros. sang "Bye Bye Love." Little Richard did "Lucille" and Elvis had a number one hit with "All Shook Up."

Fins and a lot of chrome were the norm for the 1957 automobiles and plenty of power. Buick came out with the Roadmaster, the Century, the Super, and the Special in addition to the Caballero Station Wagon. All of the 57's had a 364-cid V8. The hard top sedan averaged in the $4,400 range. The transmission was the Dynoflow which gave a nice, easy ride.
