We are a non-profit group formed by enthusiasts of vehicles of any vintage built by Chrysler Motors Corporation as well as American Motors Corporation. Lowcountry Mopars, a family oriented group, helps to support numerous community goals including the Adopt-A-Highway Program and the Happy Days and Special Times charity which is known as "The Loving Answer For Children With Cancer." The group is also affiliated with Carolina Mopar Clubs, a regional registry association of Chrysler vehicle enthusiast organizations dedicated to addressing issues common to our branch of the auto hobby.
Our goal is to preserve the cars and trucks we love and to share information about them. A lot of club activities like weekly meetings and monthly "First Sunday Cruises" take place all year long, including excursions and the attendance of different car shows. An important event is our annual Mopar Show, usually held in October, which attracts Mopar enthusiasts from all over the Southeast. If you want to experience southern hospitality and to meet Mopar buffs of all ages, please join our club. It is not necessary to possess a car of your own. Annual membership fee is $ 25.00, including a gift (T-shirt, custom license tag, etc.) and twelve issues of our newsletter, The Lowcountry Mopars N-E-W-S, "Following YOUR Direction".
Newsflash: "Year of Manufacture" license plates now legal in South Carolina!
Those with classic cars and trucks tagged in South Carolina and who have
been looking forward to legal display of Year of Manufacture license
plates are advised this will become law on March 30, 2007!
Carolina Mopar Clubs on behalf of all Chrysler and other groups has been
"lobbying" for the optional entitlement for several years and we wish to
thank all those who have joined in our letter writing, telephone and
e-mail campaign. We especially appreciate Lowcountry Mopars member Don
Turpin's efforts in jawboning with legislators and monitoring statehouse
progress.
Apply to local DMV when proper tag is in hand. Sources of display items
(white on green 1970 plate for '70 model vehicle, etcetera) include
parts vendors, e-Bay auctions and swap meets.

Where we meet:
♦ Informal cruise-ins are held on Friday of each week the year 'round. Gatherings start at 8 p.m. and are temporarily relocated to the brand new Sonic Drive-In on Highway 78 between Trident Hospital and Wannamaker Park (click for map).
♦ Every first Sunday of the month sees our "First Sunday Cruise". Unless noted otherwise, the motorcade departs at 2:00 pm from the Festival Centre Burger King at the intersection of Ashley Phosphate Road and Dorchester Road. The excursion will usually lead to a location that is of scenic or historic interest or which offers a special treat to any Mopar enthusiast. Bring your oldest Mopar and your newest lawn chair!
♦ Business meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Berkeley Electric Co-op building located at 2 Springhall Drive in Goose Creek, SC. (click for map).
In addition to monthly meetings, weekly cruise-ins and 12 First Sunday Cruises each year, the club periodically hosts other mini events including recruiting exhibits and fund raisers.
Most significant, though, are the club's two annual shows:
♦ The first is an open, "anything on wheels," affair known as the Lowcountry Shine & Swapp. It is always held on Saturday , the last Weekend of February at the Coastal Carolina Fleamarket, Highway 78, Ladson, S.C.
♦ The big event each year is the Lowcountry Mopars Show & Swap, a celebration of Chrysler/AMC-built vehicles. A three-day extravaganza, it is always held in October, on Columbus Day Weekend. Activities on Friday include an awesome Hospitality Night. Besides fabulous things (Mopar cars, trucks, parts, etc.) Saturday and Sunday boasts dancing, go cart heats, short racing, exhaust pipe contests... and lots more.
