Hi, I'm Ernie Neal from Columbus, IN and I've been racing for 28 years and competing nationally for 17 years. I will now be racing a Dakota pick-up truck for Super Stock. It will run a new NHRA class. This Super Stock truck must weigh 3012 with 317 cubic inch engine. We are currently making 660 horsepower and shooting for 685 with the Zimmerman Bros. prepared engine.
My son, Ernie II, will be sitting out for a while. Dad sold the cavalier. Ernie wants to build another Chevy II. We'll have to sort it out and see what we can do short term to get Ernie back into the seat of a race car. The cylinder heads are being prepared by Voges Racing engine of Ohio.
Take a look

FOR SALE my 1992 Camaro RS rolling. (look here for more on the Camaro for sale) It had competed in NHRA super stock class SS/CS. The class is 10.5 pounds per cubic inch, with cast iron OEM cylinder heads (bowtie) and a 750 cfm Holley carb. The 3010 pound Camaro, with driver, was powered by a 296 cubic inch 545 hp Zimmerman Bros.engine. It had titanium valves and aluminum rods.

A few words about the Dakota truck.. I worked up a deal with Mopar Performance to build and compete in NHRA's newest class (the Super Stock truck class). The 1998 Dodge Dakota will be prepared to run SS/TB a 9.5 pound per cubic inch class (same as SS/BS). The truck runs a Zimmerman Bros. prepared 317 cubic inch engine. The 317ci has W7 aluminum heads with titanium valves, and one 750 cfm (DaVinci /Holley) carburetor. The pistons are J&E connected to the Bryant crank by GRP rods. A Jerico tranmission will be used along with a Hays clutch and Lakewood high gear can bellhousing. Dave Sebring and Rocky Bellino of Mr. Gasket, were very instrumental on this project. Anthony Jones of Anthony Jones Engineering provided the shop and bent the cage. Son, David and I tig welded the moly cage. Wife (Kellie) and I did the frame narrowing and 4-link plate mounting. The tubs were made by Keith Trimpe (my brother-in-law) of Greenwood, IN. I modified and installed them. The plan will be to go as low as we can go, we are about 5" lower than stock. Perry's Body Shop of Hope , IN worked out the body and applied the Dupont racing finish. Gary Agan race cars and I made the aluminum bed cover sections. Mallory, will handle the fuel delivery to this Dakota power plant. Bogart (fluted star) wheels gave me a little help on the wheels and Hoosier some on the tires.
Hold on all you Mopar fans. We are working on a 1960 engine combination for GT. NHRA wouldn't let us go back to 1958, for I was going to borrow Christines powerplant.
