Qualifying begins at 3pm for the NAPA Autocare 500. Keep your fingers crossed and hope that all of the Roush Racing drivers get a good lap. 9/25/99 Current Roush Racing Positions and Practice Times
Mark Martin leads the teams of Roush Racing in qualifying as well as practice times (158.186) for the MBNA Gold 400 with an 8th place position. Soon to be Roush Racing teammate Matt Kenseth qualified 13th had a (158.068) in practice. Kevin LePage (21), Chad Little (22), and Johnny Benson (24) round out the rest of the team that made the 1st round. Jeff Burton will try 2nd round qualifying today.

"It ran real good there at the end wrecked for a wrecked race car. It's wrecked bad. I got hit really, really hard. It's too hard. I don't think we would have run too bad today. I think we were running better than a lot of the cars that finished in the top seven, I looked at the scoreboard. The Valvoline team gets a lucky day by being able to finish 17th, but an unlucky day being caught up in all those wrecks."

TV Guide to Return?
[9-13-1999] Unofficially, the Team Roush Fans Site has learned that TV GUIDE has signed with Jack Roush and the #16 team at least for 2000 season...The deal is estimated to be worth about $7 million to the team. TV GUIDE was initially going to sign a 3-year deal but wanted to see what the status of the #26 Car was going to be before committing to the 16 car. Could have an official announcement sometime before the NHIS race

Big Brother\Big Sisters Update
Mark Martin's performance in the Valvoline Ford, along with contributions from Valvoline and NASCAR fans has brought the current total raised for Big Brothers Big Sisters to $126,524. Valvoline is donating $5,000 for every Winston Cup race Martin wins this season, $2,500 for each pole, and $20 for every lap he leads in this "Caring Hands" program. The 11th of 15 planned trackside fund-raisers, where fans can put their handprints on a canvas wall, receive a commemorative button, and make donations, will be in Michigan.
