I am an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine Kuwait University
We have recently identified two novel metastasis suppressor genes in colorectal and ovarian cancers using positional cloning and functional approaches. The genes identified can predict metastatic behaviour even before metastases are detected clinically.
The metastatic signature identification in early stage cancers could potentially save the lives of millions every year.
