- ***1/2 The best movie that has been released this year. With disappointments such as Deep Impact and Godzilla.... who knows what's next? Well, Jim Carrey is. Who would of thought Jim Carrey would be in a movie that's already being called "the movie of the decade." THE TRUMAN SHOW is movie about a man who has lived his whole life inside of a dome, in an imaginary town with over 5,000 cameras- and who unknowingly is the star of a television show which gives hope to millions. What a concept! Well, first of all, the movie is a paranoid's delight. It's almost devoid of any comedy, and Jim Carrey shows he can really do a dramatic role. It was a mistake to market this movie as a comedy, when it's really a dark, twisted drama that makes you cheer for Truman Burbank as he begins to discover his world is more than it seems.... If you're going to see one movie this summer, make it THE TRUMAN SHOW.
