- *** Probably the most realistic view of what being a teen is. No candy coating here. It has eyes of sympathy for the nerds, the bad-asses, the jocks, the princesses, and the weirdos. It shows what their life is like and dares to ask the question, "WHY????" A very good question indeed-and it leads to an emotional out-pouring. Five kids spend a day in Saturday detention only to discover more about themselves, others, and what life could be. A challenging and entertaining film from John Hughes, and it shouldn't be passed up.
