Ricky Martin was born in December 24th, 1971 in San Juan, capital of Puerto Rico.
His real name is Enrique Martin Morales and he had his first contact with teatrical performance in school plays.
As a child, he also appeared in some TV commercial spots. Around ten years old he discovered  the Latin supergroup "Menudo".
At first, he was rejected by the group because he was too young, but in 1984 he finally got in.
In 1989, when Menudo where in the apex of success, Ricky felt he had progressed much more than the group itself.
Then followed a year of inactivity, after  wich the ambicious artist moved to Mexico. In this country he played the role of Pablo in the pop group Munecos de Papel wich was a part of "Alcanzar Una Estrella II".
In 1992 and 1993 he released his first two albums in spanish: "Ricky Martin" and "Me Amaras". Both albums went gold in Several countries.
In 1994 Ricky moved to Los Angeles where he joined the team of General Hospital.
He wasn't surprise that his role was that of Miguel, un pop artist from Puerto Rico.
After that he worked on his third album also in spanish "A Medio Vivir", wich was released in 1995.
The sells at a world-wide bases reached the 600.000 units in the six months that followed, and in 1997 he got the Gold certification.
Simultaneously, Ricky played the prestigious part of Marius in the Broadway production of "Les Miserables" and also got the time to the dubbing of the spanish version of the Disney movie "Hercules".
In mid 1998 his forth album was released also in spanish entitled "Vuelve" in wich we can hear the mega-success "La Copa de La Vida".
And even this year at the Grammy's "Vuelve" was voted the best latin pop  album.
In last May we saw the realese of his first english album, simply entitled "Ricky Martin". This album includes songs writen by Jonh Secada and Diane Warren and was produced by the cuban-american responsable by many successes Robi Rosa, by Desmond Child and by the superior mind of the Miami Sound Machine, Emilio Estefan Jr.
Having reached the massive statute of star all over the world, Ricky Martin prepares himself to be the super-star of the new millenium!
