Tupac Shakur was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1971. He later moved to Oakland, California with the rest of his family. That's when Tupac began to, as he called it, "Hang with the wrong crowd", Tupac then joined the Rap group Digital Underground as a dancer. Not long before the group achieved award winning success, Tupac released his own album "2pacallypse Now", which was also a success. The hit single "Brenda's Got A Baby" launched Tupac's career. His stunning talent also got him a role in the motion picture, "Juice".

The highlight of Tupac's acting career came when he appeared in "Poetic Justice" besides Janet Jackson. The role made Tupac a household name and showed the world that music may not be Tupac's #1 attribute.

The media's portrayal of Tupac Shakur as a tattooed thug has focused public attention on his alleged crimes instead of his music. In reality, this rapper, raised in Marin City, California, by a Black Panther mother, is more complex than his adversaries like to admit. Tupac is a talented lyricist with a gift for storytelling/Poetry. His compelling lyrics and poetry shows a relatively contemplative rapper who's ready to make peace with some of his demons. The long list of positive lyrics from 2Pac certainly doesn't make him a saint, but it does reveal surprising emotional depth.

"It's going to happen. All the niggas who change the world die in violence. They don't get to die like regular ways. [People] come take their lives..."
-Tupac Shakur ("Interview in The Observer, July 1996")
