However, instead of falling into the megalomaniac mode of prior adventures, Elektra is calm and collected in her plans, all revolving around revenge. Revenge for her father refusing to pay ransom to set her free, revenge towards the Russians for driving her family away from areas of the Caspian Sea.
Bond feels extreme guilt for the death of her father, since he was instrumental in returning the money that would eventually lead to King's death. He takes position as bodyguard to Elektra, and protects her in a highlight of the film- a massive ski sequence against four multipurpose vehicles. She inevitably ends up double-crossing him, in a nuclear weapons test facility in Chechnya.
The finale, save the tried-and-true massive set piece, is very tense and exciting. The death of Elektra is cold-blooded and well done, and the ancient palace much of the fighting takes place in sounds beautiful. The set piece is a submarine, which is used in an interesting, and original, manner.
