Romeo & Juliet
SHAKESPEARE
SET IN SCENE FOR THE TECHNO-GENERATION
The story is known and yet it was newly
written with this great movie. Romeo, the Montague's only son,
and Juliet, the daughter of the Capulets', fall in love at a
fancy-dress ball - but their love stands under an imaginably
unlucky star. Verona Beach is scene of numerous robberies, shoot-outs
and assassination attempts. And apart from that, the world isn't
completely in order, either. The two most powerful households of
the coastal metropolis have been hostile for generations, and
Juliet has been promised by her father to another man and is thus
shortly before getting married. An old friend of Romeo's, Father
Laurence, nevertheless manages to marry the lovers in a secret
ceremony. But when Romeo is attacked by the deceitful catchpol
and Capulet-nephew Tybaltat the nightly beach, there is a brutal
duel. Romeo slays his opponent and has to flee. In a passionate
wedding night he wants to say good-bye to Juliet.....
