SHADOW CHILD

In 1952 5 year old Brian Nolan disappears. The authorities have no answers for his disappearance. Nor do they have any for the other children who have vanished over the years. But Eric Nolan (Brian's brother) has a reason to believe otherwise. Just before Brian vanished he told Eric a story.
Years later Eric comes home. His cousin has taken over the house

with her family. Soon Eric's nephew,Luke, is starting to act a little weird. He is telling tales of Uncle Eric sitting outside his window at night. Then Luke's dad, Clint, disappears. When Clint finally returns he just doesn't seem normal. Then things start to get really strange.
"Shadow Child" is the first novel by Joseph A. Citro and it is one hell of a way to start. The tale is of strange things in the woods of Vermont. The atmosphere is always creepy with this book. The pace is very fast, though you don't realize just how fast it is until you see you have read 100 pages.
These are some of the best characters you will ever find. The boys in the gas station are wonderful. The only complaint is that the scenes with these people are too short. Give us more of them and things will be great.
Great scares and great characters, what more could you want. This is a wonderful book with a lot to offer. Luckily, it has also been re-printed, so it is available from any decent book source.

GUARDIAN ANGELS

Four years after the murders happened in "Shadow Child", a new family moves into the house where it all took place. This time the Crockett family moves in with 15 year old son Will, who has no desire to move into the house. Strange things once again start to happen. The girl Will has become friends with, Mona, starts acting even more bizarre than before. Then Eric Nolan shows up to try to

set a few things right.
Both this book and "Shadow Child" work in wondrous ways. The characters are just so great in these two books. Plus the scares are genuine. Eric Nolan is such a great character. As you can see, I am really wrapped up with these characters, but that is one of Citro's skills, he really makes you care.
"Guardian Angels" and "Shadow Child" are both beautiful books that really do need to be discovered all over again. This book has also been reprinted and should be available from any self-respecting book store, or just click on the book titles to go to the publisher's page.To see the cover of this book that appeared in Poland, click here.

THE GORE

"Don't ever take a fence down until you know the reason it was put up"
       G.K. Chesterton

And with that we start a book that scared the living hell out of me in the first 100 pages. Why, because it is another book to play on

the fears in the back of our mind. Another book that takes something that really isn't all that scary, and makes it down right creepy. Bigfoot? How scary can that be. Handled this way, very!
Working in the woods a man sees something, something that scares him to the bone. Later he takes his life. Only a couple of kids and two old men know that anything is going on. Creatures in the woods are striking out and defending the land they have lived on for years.
This is a bit of a strange book. It starts out reading like a straight out horror novel, but later turns into so much more. What the creatures really are is quite the surprise. I would actually call this one of the most original books I had ever read. This one holds a special place in my heart for some reason. I think it is due to the fact the Bigfoot legend has always creeped me out. Try to find this for something unique to read.
