In his spare time, Jensen Ackles enjoys horseback riding, fishing, snow and water skiing and returning to
Texas to visit family and friends.
Jensen Ross Ackles was born on March 1, 1978 in Dallas, Texas and was raised in Richardson,
Texas. Jensen is the middle child of his
family. He has an older brother, Joshua and a sister,
Mackenzie, who is 7 years younger. His father is the one who got Jensen into the business. With Alan being an actor and appearing on many famous programs, it was easy for his son to follow in his father's footsteps. Even today, Jensen's family remains proud of him, mostly for being so determined. Alan proved to be a great example to Jensen not only in parenting, but also in his son's career.
Jensen has been in showbiz since he was very small. He got his start at the age of
four appearing in print advertising and commercials for Nabisco, Wal-Mart, and Radio Shack. When Jensen was 16 yrs old, he
attended an acting workshop in Dallas, where he overwhelmed the talenting scouts with his great acting presentations. Over the next couple of years, his manager kept encouraging Jensen to come to Los Angeles and "hit it big" while he could. After much hard thinking and consideration, Jensen concluded that it would be best for him in the long run if he finished attending Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas. Although Jensen longed to jump into the run of his career, he knew it could be put on hold for a while...at least until he graduated.
After graduating in
1996, Jensen talked with his parents and decided to leave home and move to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of an acting career. Jensen had no idea of what lay ahead in the future. Little did he know that the glamorous city was all lit up with bright lights just waiting to put his name and beautiful face across America's tv screens!
He did small roles at first on shows like
Wishbone(he filmed this is Dallas before his move to LA), Sweet Valley High,(he had a guest spot on this) and Cybill. After that, he landed a regular role on NBC's sitcom, Mr. Rhodes, playing Malcolm. After public attention was lost, the show was put off the air. When it was canceled, he almost
decided to move back home, until he landed the part of
Eric Brady on Days of Our Lives. Jensen's character played Eric Brady, a young man who had a twin sister named Samantha. Jensen loved the role but soon moved on to the FOX series, Dark Angel. He had a long run on the show and enjoyed it but the show was canceled. Look for Jensen in new roles soon!
