Shelley Winters started on the stage and that's where I think she probably feels most comfortable!! She has done many shows in her life and I have yet to document all of them, but here is a small list of what I have been able to find so far.

    -Understudy for Julie Haydon. Never appeared on stage.

    -US touring company  (1939?) Starring: Virginia O'Brien, Peggy Ryan, Fay McKenzie, Jack Albertson and Shelley Winters (Shelley was only 16 and though it was only in New York for a week she got to be on Broadway before it went on tour, this was her first musical/play)

    -Nora Bays Theatre, 44th Street NYC  (1942) Starring: Oscar Karlweis, Dorthy Sarnoff, Shelley Winters. Directed by: Max Reinhardt (This is the play that got Shelley her screen test for Columbia pictures)
