I tried my best to write a little about what each principal cast member is doing now, but it's not real complete. If you have anything to add, e-mail me at jniketh@geocities.com.
Isabel has starred in several movies since "The Jeffersons," and makes guest appearances on various television shows all the time. Just about a month or two ago, she starred in "Original Gangstas." In 1981, she won an Emmy for her role as Louise Jefferson. She continues to live the good life, and enjoys cooking in her free time, a skill she recently learned from a good friend and business associate. She is also trying to learn the piano, a task which she acknowledges is hard. She is currently not married, to the best of my knowledge, but said in an interview that she would like a companion. She also said that people, when they see her in the street, come up to her and say things like "Kiss me, Weezy!" She lives in a beautiful home in California, Brentwood to be exact, the subdivison that O.J. Simpson lives in. Her home has pictures of "The Jeffersons" cast hung in various places. She is also a grandmother. I saw footage of her graduation, not too long ago, from Emerson College. When she received her diploma, she shed a few tears, and stepped up to the podium to give a speech. She tried to come up with words, but her emotions were too great, and she just screamed one exhuberant "YES!" and the audience burst into a standing ovation. She is a fine lady, and I hope someday to meet her.
After "The Jeffersons," Sherman began a new show, in 1986, called "Amen," where he played Deacon Ernest Frye, whose personality and antics were quite similar to George Jefferson's. "Amen" ended in 1991, and he then began yet another show called "Dinosaurs," a Jim Henson show about a family of Dinosaurs living millions of years ago, but with 90s amenities in their house, live a TV, microwave, and refrigerator. He was the voice of B.P. Richfield, the boss at a construction company. I'm not sure if the show is still running. It took a break a year or two ago, and may be in syndication in another area. He also continues to make appearances in other TV shows and movies. BIG NEWS: Sherman Hemsley will star in a NEW comedy series this fall called "Goode Behavior" on the UPN network!!! He plays a character, whose last name is Goode, who was just released from prison on, you guessed it, good behavior! The show looks hilarious, and I wish Sherman the best of luck! The new show will premiere on Monday, August 26 on UPN. Check your local listings for channel and time.
Marla joined the cast of "227" almost immediately after "The Jeffersons," where she played a toned-down type of Florence, Mary Jenkins, a mother of one daughter, and wife to Lester Jenkins, played by Hal Williams. Another star who made her debut on "227" is none other than Jackee Harry, now starring in "Sister, Sister" where Sherman and Isabel make occasional appearances as the girl's grandparents. Marla has starred in a few movies since then, and also makes TV appearances. She lives in Los Angeles, and built a theater there for inner-city kids to learn how to act.
As sadly stated before, Roxie passed away this past December due to complications that were not released. In the time after "The Jeffersons," she, too, starred in several movies. She was the mother of singer Lenny Kravitz, and wife to NBC producer Sy Kravitz.
Since "The Jeffersons," Franklin has starred in several movies.
Paul has been in a number of movies since "The Jeffersons." He played the Judge in "The Addams Family." He is also a stage actor, I think.
All of the other stars have also starred in movies since "The Jeffersons." To see a filmography for any of the cast members, see The Internet Movie Database.
