As a result of a few years of role-playing with my chat character, Niac, in Webchat's Star Trek chat room (Nexus, formerly rec.arts.startrek), I have decided to write a story that provides a background to the character that I use in the room. |
| Depending on how much time I get free to work on and publish online each chapter, I hope to have a full story on line by next year. It will also probably depend on how many of you people are actually coming to read this darn story every so often, too. So, if you are enjoying it, send your fellow Trek fan buddies here too! My counter will be watching, and if yas aren't coming back, I'll probably be cutting the whole thing short! (If I get even more free time, I'll consider putting a guest book here so you can tell me and other readers how the heck I messed it up. *G*) |
| I have plans of perhaps creating images of the major characters, and placing these on a crew Bio page. However, if there are those of you out there who don't want to see what the Author imagines these characters to look like, I'll probably have a picture-free bio page so you can see the character info without ruining your image of that character. |
| Again, it will depend on certain things (if I bother to learn and then make this a frames site), as to whether I make the story in frames with the contents in a separate frame, or contents at the top & bottom of the chapter without frames altogether. |
| I have yet to decide if the other characters to appear in the story are to be all created or some created with some taken from the existing characters from the Chat room. If I'm going to use known Nexus characters, the Handles' owner will be contacted for their permission to use their character(s). |
| Before you continue, you should know that I am an Australian, so I'll be using the UK/Australian format of English. I know that most of the net is North American, so don't be surprised any of you if you see words such as 'honour', 'colour', or something you might see as a spelling mistake. |
| The story is set just after the start of Season Three of Deep Space Nine. The defiant was severely damaged as a result of the Dominion encounter in 'The Search' (Season Three, 1st Episode). At this stage of the show, little is known of the dominion. However, I am writing scenes where things have been learnt after this stage of Trek history (Example: Jem Hadar Warships: Only a few have vision of outside the ship). |
| Also, the uniforms the characters wear are the same as those worn in Season Three of Deep Space Nine and currently on Voyager. |
