I have always been surprised to see where Madonna has gotten her inspiration.
Here you will see the original work and Madonna's version of it.

note:
Most of these are just my guesses as to where Madonna drew inspiration from
but I'm fairly certain they are true since they resemble so much to one another.
Marilyn Monroe seems to be a big influence more so in the early 90's during Madonna's Vogue, glamour era.

Marilyn Monroe from the film, *Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.* It's pretty obvious the Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend sequence in the movie is where the Material Girl video came from, it's been widely reported.	from the *Material Girl* video. It seemed like a good spoof of the materialistic Monroe character in GPB. Too bad many people didn't get it. I also read that the designer of the Monroe dress was not pleased that his design was recreated for Madonna for this video.
