- he is married to actress Rhea Perlman since 28. January 1982
- he met Perlman in 1970 and both decided to live together after 2 weeks
- has 3 children with Perlman: daughters Lucy Chet (* 1983) and Grace Fan (*1985), and son Jake Daniel (* 1987)
- his father is Daniel DeVito, Sr. and his mother is Julia DeVito
- he has a sister, Angie
- he has his own production company: 'Jersey Films'
