- was married to Lois Hardwig (19?? - 19??, divorced) and Shirley Douglas (19?? - 1970, divorced)
- he lives now in his 3rd marriage with Francine Racette (since 19??)
- has two children with Shirley Douglas, actor Kiefer Sutherland, and twin sister Rachel (* 21. December 1966)
- has 4 other sons with Francine Racette: Roeg, Rossif, Angus and Redford
