- some of my facourite movies with him include "Scarecrow" (1973), "The Conversation", "Crimson Tide" (1995) and "Enemy of the State" (1998)
- his parents were the pressman and printer Eugene Ezra Hackman and Lyda Hackman
- he was married to Fay Maltese, a secretary (1956 - 1986, divorced)
- has 3 children with Maltese: Elizabeth, Leslie and Christopher
- since December 1991 he is married to the concert pianist Betsy Arakawa
- while at the Pasadena Playhouse, Hackman and a classmate were voted "Least likely to succeed"
- the classmate was Dustin Hoffman
