- I like him most as Dr. Phillip Watters on the TV hit series "Chicago Hope"
- he is divorced two times, and now married to Carolee Campbell since 1969
- he has a son, Rod from his first marriage...Hector raised him after being divorced at the age of 20 years
- the name of his mother is Carmen, and his father was born on a cargo ship, that was sailing from Spain to Puerto Rico
- Hector has one younger sister, Emma
- he is a very good guitarist and also a singer...he also brought this to the character Dr. Phillip Watters
- sometimes plays bongos between the takes of "Chicago Hope" with Adam Arkin (Dr. Aaron Shutt on "Chicago Hope")
