- I liked him most in "Marty" (1955), "The Dirty Dozen" (1967) and especially his appearance as Ceasar in "Gattaca" (1997)
- Borgnine spent 10 years in the Navy prior to acting
- he was married to Rhoda Kemins (1948 - 1959, divorced), Ethel Merman (1964 - marriage only lasted 32 days, divorced), Katy Jurado (1959 - 1963, divorced), Donna Rencourt (1965 - 1972, divorced) and lives now in his fifth marriage with Tova Traesnaes (married since 1972)
