- the family changed the name Anastassakis to Aniston when they moved from Greece to the USA
- Jennifer was raised in New York and Greece
- her father is actor John Aniston (* 24. July 1937), and her mother is photographer Nancy Aniston
- her parents divorced in 1978
- her half brother is Johnny Melick (* 1959)
- Jennifer first auditioned for the role of Monica Geller for the TV series "Friends"
