We find Edward serving on active duty shortly after he reached the age of sixteen. He fought in the Revolutionary War, volunteering March 1, 1781 and serving six months as private in Captain Dorsen Burges and William Triplett's companies under Colonels Pickett and Francis Triplett in the VA Troups. He was allowed pension on his application executed August 16, 1832 while residing at Peyton's Creek, Smith County, Tennessee.
