This is My Story | ||||||||||||||||||||

I was thirteen, sitting in the eighth-grade catechism class, daydreaming of trout fishing in the great Bridger mountains, when a stern voice from the nun said "Aaron, stand up and tell the class who God is." My thin, wirey frame jumped up and proclaimed, "I don't know and in my opinion nobody does know who God is!" I was very promptly dismissed from Catholic school with orders that my parents would be contacted and a meeting would be forthcoming to re-admit me back to school. The next twenty-two years were spent searching for the truth by studying and practicing buddism, zen, hinduism, llamism, the occult and finally satanism. I lost a marriage, two beautiful children and any self respect that had been taught me as a child. My life became a twisted nightmare of alcohol, drugs, broken relationships, always searching for the truth, but never finding it. I drifted from one city to another as a "flower-child" dope using hippie. In the fall of 1975, my attempted suicide with a deer rifle failed (it had an automatic safety) and a small voice said "why not wait one more day?" and I said "why should I?", but I did and the very next day, a knock on my door literally "saved my life" from another suicide attempt. As I opened the door, two men were standing there and I asked "who are you and what do you want?" The taller of the two said "We are just here to welcome you to our community and invite you to our local church down the street." I started to close the door exclaiming "Oh, some of those !@#$% church-goers, huh - well no thanks!" The tall man pushed against the door gently but firmly while asking "Could we just have 5 minutes of your time to ask you a very important question?" My hand relaxed on the door and I said "Well, OK, but you better not have any of that J.W. or other religious stuff to hand me!" The men stepped inside the living room and the taller one looked me squarely in the eyes and asked me "Have you ever wondered where you would be if you died today?" My voice filled with contempt replied "Yeh, what did you ask that for? Do you know where you would be if you died?" He replied with all confidence and gentleness "Oh, yes I would be in Heaven with God, living in peace, joy and love for eternity." The only response I could think of was "You really believe that, don't you? Run that by me again." He repeated what he had said and then asked me "Would you like to be forgiven of every single sin you have ever committed in your life?" He added, "It is very simple." "You just ask God to forgive you of all your sins and believe that His Son, Jesus Christ died for them all, then ask Jesus to come into your heart and life to help and guide you." The man said "If you would like to be forgiven of all your sins, we will pray with you." He then asked me "Would you like to do that?" I quickly responded "Yes, I would." That decision changed my life - FOREVER! You too, can have peace, love, joy and happiness of knowing all the sins of your entire life are forgiven, simply by "Asking God to do it in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ." Then just ask Jesus into your heart and life. Would you make that eternal decision right now? "Truly, truly I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." John 3:3 NAV "IT WILL BE THE MOST IMPORTANT DECSION OF YOUR ENTIRE LIFE." |
