Register Your Handle

Here are some quick instructions on how to register. It's really easy & most of the questions asked are optional, except for handle, password & zip code.

Please read all of the instructions before you attempt to register. You can bookmark this page, print it or copy & paste it some place where you can find it when you need it.

First I'll review some common problems people encounter when trying to register, then I'll cover problems related to entering the chat room. At the end of this page is a table that looks just like the one you'll see when you register, with the same questions and a little additional help.

Please write down both your handle
and your password before you register them.

Problems with Registering:

It won't accept my handle! This happens when someone else has already registered that handle. It will also happen if you registered with the handle, then forget your password & try to use a different password with it.

It doesn't like my Password! Make sure your password is at least 4 characters long (it can be numbers or letters or a combination of both).

It keeps asking me all those questions! Each time you attempt to register, it will ask the same series of questions. Remember, all of them are optional except for zip code, so you can bypass most of them. If you want to go back later & answer them after you've registered, you can always do that.

Problems with Entering the Chat Room:

It won't let me in! This is caused from not entering your correct handle and password. Both must be identical to what you used when you registered. Make sure the case (uppercase & lowercase) on both your handle & password match what you entered when you registered.
It won't let me type or say anything! Did you login before you entered the chat room? If you bypass the login, you'll be able to see what's being said but you won't be able to enter any comments. This happens when you try to bookmark just the chat room & try to enter from your bookmark instead of the home page. If you don't see a box for entering text with a button that's labeled "Say It", you need to go back to the home page & click on the link that says "Chat Room".

Register Your Handle

Handle: Use any name you want (i.e., first name or screen name)
Password: Choose a password that is easy for you to remember - Must be at least 4 characters
Retype password: type it one more time to verify it

Birth Year: You can skip this if you want to

Email: You can skip this, too but read on...
(Entering your email address is optional. However if you wish to receive private messages from other chatters via email, you need to enter your address here. Your address will not be made known to other users. If you ever lose or forget your account username or password, we can send them to you by email. We do not distribute our email list nor do we send unsolicited email to our users.)

Zip Code: You must enter a zip code (I don't know why, that's just the way it is)
Please enter your US Zip Code, or, if you live outside of the US, the name of your country.

Gender: this is optional
undisclosed
female
male

Mailable? This is optional, too but you might want to use it so other people can email you.
We provide a mechanism whereby other chatters can send email to you without ever knowing your email address. Check this box if you want other chatters to be able to send mail to you. (Note: the other chatters do not see your email address, only your handle. Selecting this option does not make your email address public)

Personal Statement: (Optional) Enter any information you want about yourself. Use HTML, or plain text. This is your section, so put in it what you want. None of the above information is publically available, but this is. (If you don't have much to say now, don't worry...You'll be able to edit it later).
