OF CINCINNATI INTERNATIONAL FOLK DANCERS |
![]() |
International FOLK DANCING is at:
4120 Hamilton Avenue, 3rd Floor
Maitri Center in "The Lodge,"
in the Northside neighborhood
Saturday Nights, 8:15-10:30 PM8:15-9:15 TEACHING
Progresses from easily learned to more challenging dances
(Check the calendar to see who is teaching)9:15-10:30 REQUEST DANCING
Easy dances always interspersed for newcomers
PARKING: 1) on-street around the building and (we expect)
2) behind the Northside Bank across the street
from The Lodge.
Because the floor has been newly refinished, it is important to use non-street shoes (or at least clean soft-soled shoes) for dancing. We may bring food and drink, but they must stay in the refreshment room. Click here for the complete email announcing the move .
International Folk Dance is casual; not only are beginners always welcome, but crucial to the vitality of the group. Please help us publicize this activity. We are eager for your suggestions for publicity and how to attract new dancers.
No partners, equipment, or experience needed. Wear comfortable shoes.
DONATIONS: Because the price ($36/night) is higher than what we paid at the Y, the standard donation will now be $4 per person, though anyone who cannot afford the price will (as always) be asked merely to put in what they can afford.

[Technical problems have prevented updating of UCFID web site until Jan 2003. Check back for revisions of news items in the near future.] A cover article on what to do during Winter in Cincinnati includes a section on our Folk Dance group was published in the 21 Feb 2002 issue of CityBeat on p. 26, under the cryptic heading "Tripping the Light Spasmatic." You can see the article online by clicking here . Go halfway down through the article (15 screens) to see the section about us. Thanks to Maria Rogers of CityBeat for her good work on the article. The 2 February 2002 (2/2/2002) big multiple birthday party with LIVE music by Mixed Bag from Columbus OH was a smash hit! We had folks from Columbus, Indianapolis, Lexington, Dayton join us for an extraordinaryly spirited night of dancing. Thanks especially to Dee, Marnie, Bob, and Eileen for motivating the event and hiring the band! Thanks also to Ray for his contributions to the event. We had in excess of 100 dancers! Watch Cincinnati's City Beat for an article and pictures (an article ). -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
