Minutes for the August 9th, 2000 Meeting
We'll be helping the Fire Dept. with the Fire Chiefs of Mexico when they come
on Oct. 12th, that Dennis is the contact person, and that we would definitely
help out. Pam Green is heading up that committee.
We also talked about picking a date (ex: the 15th of every month) to have the
auxilliary meetings so that it always landed on a different day of the week, so
that no one is stuck missing meetings all year if they have classes or other commitments.
It was said that if that particular mtg. date landed on a weekend, that we could
either have it the following Monday or the Friday before. Nothing set in stone,
just a very good thought. There were several people who had classes at the college
or church on Wednesdays that really wanted to attend but couldn't.
We had Shawna write Barbie a check for $20 for the postage she spent on the letters
she sent out to all the ladies.
Our next meeting was set for Tuesday, Sept. 12th, in order to have different people
attend. However, Gail could not get the classroom for that day as it was booked,
so the next available day on that week (besides Wed.) was Thursday, Sept. 14th
at 6:30.
We also set up the brunch at my house for Sat., August 26th at 10:00.
Nominations for the next board were made as follows: Angela for president and
Pam Greene for vice. Shawna criticized the YFDLA for not doing enough in this
first year of operations. However, it should be noted that often we do not get
enough notice to plan for activities and also we are not getting enough people
to volunteer their time and their help.
ADDENDUM to Minutes: It should be noted that at the brunch, Amanda Stoermer was
nominated for treasurer and Kathy Padilla for secretary.
