Comments: My grandmother did a lot of geneology searching - back to about the 1200s, but my interest is simpler. There is some descrepancy on the graham coat of arms - one with the three orange shells on a black backround, over an orange bottom. The "bloody red h nd" but I know that story, and now I've found a third falcon/stork. I just wanted to make a coat of arms to hang on the wall, but wanted it correct. Comments: Just came by and looked at your work. You did good. I an 70 next month and grew up in Grundy, Va. As A young boy I took part in the family butchering. Since we had no electricty until 1948. Every part of the hog was canned, smoked or salted down. Ofcourse we made lye soap, this was usually made from the fat striped fron the intestins. We never made chittlins. The meat rihns from rendering was used in shorting bread. We called it (cracklin bread). We usually used the liver while it was still warm. Ofcourse e had no way to preserve it.We usually gave our neigbours A fresh mess of meat. So usually the ribs and back bone were given away. There were no such A thing as pork chops. Back then when our neighbour butchered A hog we got A mess or meal of fresh meat f om them. My how times have changed.
