Ex. The snowmobile, invented by Canada's Armand Bombardier in 1922 has played a pivotal role in Canada's expansion north. Able to carry a rider across great distances quickly and economically, it has become the mode of transportation of choice both for scientists, explorers and the Canadian Inuit. During Operation Muskox, over 45 snowmobiles were used to carry 300 men over 3,000 km in one of the largest Arctic military expeditions in Canadian history.
