Clayton Davidson was born 22 June, 1827 in AL. His father's name is not known, but the mother's name was Margaret. Clayton died 10 August, 1862 in McNairy Co. TN.
Clayton married 20 December, 1849 in Lauderdale Co. AL., to Lucretia Elmira Sheffield born 5 February, 1830 TN., and died 5 February 1915 in McNairy Co. TN. Both are buried in Sanders cemetery where Elmira's parents are buried.
After the death of Clayton Elmira continued to live in McNairy Co. She paid property tax from 1867 thru 1901. She shows up on the 1910 in the household with a grand daughter, Alice Wardlow Whitaker in district 9. She states she is a widow, had six (6) children, none are living, has no property. Her resting place holds no marker, and only her death certificate hold the correct burial site, Sanders cemetery.
Children of Clayton and Elmira are:
1. E.A.U.L. Davidson born 6 October, 1850 AL., and died 17 September, 1852
2. George W. Davidson, born 4 June, 1852 and died 19 February 1880 TN.
3. H. L. Davidson born 29 September, 1854 TN., died 8 November, 1856 TN.
4. G Alice Davidson, born 7 December, 1856 TN., died 23 June, 1884 McNairy Co. and buried in Wardlow Cemetery.
Alice married 7 June, 1876 to David W. Wardlow, born 25 April, 1855, son of John Wardlow and Nancy Jane Horn.
Alice died when standing near a window in a thunderstorm. The lightening was bad and struck her house. Alice was found dead on the floor, beneath her was her daughter Alice whom she was holding, it was believed at first that baby Alice had perished, but once picked up she was found to be breathing and survived.
Alice had three children at the time of her death. They were placed in the home of the grand parents Wardlow and Uncles. It was said Oscar one of the children could not get along with family members and left for either AR. or TX. He later was killed in a train accident and his body was returned to McNairy Co.
The second child was Ida E. Wardlow who was born 24 April, 1880 TN., and married George M. Burks
The third child was Alice Davis Wardlow, born 2 June, 1884 TN., and died 12 February, 1924 Selmer, TN. Alice married Marshal Wesley Whitaker, who was born 27 August, 1887 TN., son of James Monroe Whitaker and Sarah Josephine Wilds.
5. Jackson Davidson born 15 November, 1858 TN.
6. John Clayton Davidson, born 4 March, 1861 TN.
