Wednesday 19 July

Blackrock village and beach just after high tide.

Dundalk Bay a couple of hours after high tide!

We slept until 8AM and then had a lovely relaxing morning in the beautiful guest lounge overlooking the bay. The house is actually on the edge of the water.

When the tide is low it is out as far as the eye can see, but for a ribbon of water snaking its way across the sand bar. It is the River Fane, which begins in Muckross Lake in Monaghan County. As the tide rises the river fills first so it is very dangerous to be on the other side when the tide turns.

We relaxed, sorted photos and played with the dog until after midday, then went down the road to the pub for a roast beef sandwich.

Later in the afternoon we went into the big town of Dundalk and used the Internet at the county library. We asked for a membership application in order to have access, but they insisted that it wasn't necessary. Lucky we hadn't much to relate for the past 2 days as there were 16 emails waiting for us.

We are getting lots of good feedback from home, most people really enjoying our travels and asking for more. It's also good to hear from our girls. Alyssa, our grand daughter, has been sick but is improving. Cheryl's (our youngest daughter) pregnant belly is growing and Jan, (our eldest) is having success in getting Storm (a young Doberman), to walk on a lead without pulling her arms off. 2 Friends are printing out our emails and sharing them with the Art & Craft Society.

Evening Skies, Dundalk Bay

Tonight I rang Joan Timlin where we stayed in Glasnevin (Dublin) and booked in for tomorrow night so we'll be close to the ferry for Friday's departure. They only had twin beds available...is that any way to spend a night on a second honeymoon?
