Monday 10 July
On the road by 9.30 AM. We stopped at Limerick for 1-hour processing, Laundromat and Email and achieved all 3 simultaneously. Although not a lot of difference in light conditions of last films they were developed much brighter. We had started to worry that was a problem with the light sensor on our new camera but maybe it was the developers. We are using both Kodak and Fuji 200asa film.

We had chosen several photos to scan to email but the scanner was out of order. Better luck next time!
After getting back on the road we headed north to Ennis then looped over to the coast and north again. We stopped for lunch at Lissycasey.
Just before Burren were the 'Cliffs of Moher', a spectacular piece of coastline.

Just inland from here the rugged ranges are barren rock with no vegetation. Apparently this is due to their limestone makeup. They are terraced to over 1000 feet and are said to be the most interesting landscape in Ireland with their geology, flora, caves, archaeological legends and history. Today these hills were dull and colourless (like the weather) but we are
hoping for some colour and sunshine before leaving tomorrow. We are staying at 'Munnia House', Burren, just south of Galway.
We have scanty views of Galway Bay from our B&B window. Better views from the bluff apparently but I'm not braving the winds to see if that's so.
We were impressed with County Limerick... better roads and sign posting than we have experienced to now, a modern and well laid out city and good parking. We often see Postman Pat (Paddy) on his rounds in his little green van. Mostly people have a post-hole in their front doors so he does door to door service...just like on Television!
Thatched Hotel, Spiddal
We saw lots more gipsies today with their 'ragatag' caravans and television aerials. Some of them sell stuff by the road... real trash and treasure. One lot had a fully upholstered lounge suite. Don't know how he got it there or where it would be stored if not sold.
I did a 10-day average of costs to see if we were staying within budget. Lunch, dinner, B&B approximately 60.30 Irish pounds a day. Petrol approximately £8.70 a day! Lucky we are driving a small car.
