Toffee Dove Bars

Chocolate, caramel and pecans top a buttery crumb crust - easy and delicious! Preparation time: 20 minutes Baking time: 20 minutes Crust 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 cup butter, softened 1cup pecan halves Filling 2/3 cup butter 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 cup butterscotch-flavored chips 1/2 cup semi-sweet real chocolate chips Heat oven to 350°. In large mixer bowl combine all crust ingredients except pecans. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed and particles are fine (2 to 3 minutes). Press on bottom of 13x9-inch baking pan. Sprinkle pecans evenly over unbaked crust. In 1-quart saucepan combine 2/3 cup butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a full boil (4 to 5 minutes). Boil, stirring constantly, about 1 minute or until candy thermometer reaches 242°F or small amount of mixture dropped into ice water forms a firm ball. Pour over pecans and crust. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until entire caramel layer is bubbly. Immediately sprinkle with butterscotch and chocolate chips. Allow to melt slightly (3 to 5 minutes). Swirl chips leaving some whole for a marbled effect. Cool completely; cut into bars. YIELD: 36 bars. TIP: Always use the correct size pan indicated in the recipe. Too large a pan will cause bars to overbake. Too small a pan will cause bars to be underbaked.
