Being Accountable
What does it mean as a christian to Live in the Light? It means giving   your life over to Christ, living the way that He has taught us and
wants us to live. Living in the Light has wonderful rewards.
The first step to Living in the Light  is being accountable. Simply put it is answering to someone, giving an account of where we have been, what we have been doing, and what are our  motives. Most of us do not like to be accountable. It puts many restrictions on us and may also force open those dark corners of our lives we prefer to keep hidden.

Real Accountability keeps us honest, moral, and on the right path. It is not always comfortable, but it is necessary. To be unaccountable means we are free  to go where our desires lead us: A dangerous game!
God holds us accountable. He Sees all, He knows all. We can hide nothing from Him, and on that final judgment day we will have to give account of ourselves  to Him.

How do I become accountable? Its all in The Bible. Gods word is       designed to keep us accountable. It describes God'expectations for His  people. It tells us what we must do to enjoy life "Living In The Light",     and what we must do to avoid and avert disaster. The Bible is the source book for living right!

What does the Bible say? Psalm 119: 6 "How can a young person stay pure? By reading your word and following its rules".†                         Psalm1:5 "They will be condemned at the time of judgement. Sinners have no place among the Godly".† God wants us to be accountable.
What happens when we are not accountable? The Bible spells it out plain and clear Judges 17: 6 "In those days, Israel had no king o the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes".†

So you say this happened so long ago time has changed, but has it? Today, as in Micah's day everyone seems to put their own interests first. Time has not changed human nature. Most people still reject God's right way of living. The people of Micah's time replaced the true worship of God with a home made version of worship. How often do we do this, worship God  to fit into our needs and time schedule?

As a result, justice was soon replaced by revenge and chaos. Anyone who has not submitted to God will end up doing whatever seems right at the time. This tendency is still present in all of us. To know what is really right and have the strength to do it, we need to draw closer to God and His Word. We cannot hide our accountability .Proverbs 23:24        "Can anyone hide from me?Am I not in all the heavens and earth? asks   the Lord".†

Does God hold us accountable? Ecclesiastes 11: 9 "Young man, its wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do, take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do".†

When we become accountable we follow Gods example. We often hear people say "Does it matter", But many of the choices make will be irreversible- they will stay with you a lifetime. What you do does matter. God has set an example for us to live by, it is up to us to           follow it and live by it.
