He married Valeria Morrison Cabell County, West Virginia, abt. 1855. Valeria was born Cabell County, West Virginia 1835. Valeria was the daughter of Thompson Morrison and Mary Anne Morrison. Valeria died 1867 Cabell County, West Virginia, at 32 years of age. Her body was interred 1867 Cavil Creek, Cabell County, West Virginian, William Morrison Cemetery.

Pitt Shanklin and Valeria Morrison had the following children:
