He married Minnie A. DeWeese. Minnie was born Napa County, California Dec. 18, 1865. Minnie⁽³¹⁴⁾ was the daughter of Carlin Douglas DeWeese and Mahala Jane Lomax. At 17 years of age Minnie became the mother of E. E. Tando May 23, 1883. At 22 years of age Minnie became the mother of Bulah M. Tando July 5, 1888.

J. E. Tando and Minnie A. DeWeese had the following children:
