Could it have already been fifty years since that day back around April of 1948, when David and Nancy started dating? It seems as though their first "date" was going to the Denning Baptist Church together. And do you remember this picture?

It was taken the month before they became engaged. Do you remember the exact date? Well it was November 5, 1948. Does it seem like yesterday? Do you remember the excitement of having to push the 36 Ford up the hills, and then jumping in it to ride down the hills?

And then came that wonderful day, December 16, 1948!! You both went to Brother Russell Smith's house on Hwy 147 in San Augustine. You were married at 7:30pm. After getting married, you both went and got a coke. Do you remember where you ate supper? I heard it was at Wilma's and A.R.'s. And that was where you had your honeymoon.

And now just think, on December 16, 1998, you will have been married 50 wonderful years. Alot has happened since that day. I am so happy that you have made it 50 years. This day in age very few people can say that they have been married 50 years.

You are the other parents I received the day I wed your son, and I just want to thank you, David and Nancy, for the loving things you've done. You've given me a gracious man with whom to share my life. You are his lovely parents, I am his lucky wife. You used to pat his little head and now I hold his hand, You raised in love a little boy and then gave me a man.
