We started off our new year with the Early Bird Event. Make Waves was a tremendous splash - the girls really enjoyed it. Of couse , the giant slide, was a great success. :-)
We also started off our new year with 11 brownies - three are new this year ! Welcome girls :-)
In October at our first meeting, we started our Girl Scout Ways Try-it. It was a good way for the new girls to learn the Girl Scout Promise and Law. They also made smores - yummmmmmmm !They will be making sit-upons when we get the material for the November meeting.
The girls also participated in the Homecoming Parade - lots of fun :-)
In our second meeting in October the girls completed their Outdoor Fun try-it. They learned to make dried fruit, rope tying, camp signs and went on an exploring hike. They also got their Nut/Magazine sales packets and they will be ready to sell. They
also got to listen to the Brownie Story and the Juliette Low story.
The girls had a busy end of October - they participated in the Brownie/Daisy Halloween Party and had a wonderful time ! - They had their fortunes told, bobbed for apples, painted a pumpkin, felt some mysterious gooey stuff, went witch fishing, pumpkin toss, eyeball race, and had a wonderful treat of pizza and halloween cookies ! The event was a huge success ! The girls also participated in the Juliette Low birthday skating party - the girls especially loved the cupcake treat at the end - Thanks Lanet for the treats - they were yuuuummmy.
The girls also loved the Brownie event "Brownie Celebrate Me" in November. They earned the girl scout ways try-it - there they learned the flag ceremony, made sit-upons and smores and also learned how to set up a campfire and ate a pretend campfire with marshmallows and pretzel sticks ! Yum - fun for all !
The girls also did a fine job at selling nuts and magazines - Good Job girls !
The Senses try-it was earned the month of November ! The did a great job.
The girls also had a brrrrrific time at the Parade of Lights in December - they also enjoyed the cookies and hot cider and chocolate after the parade almost as much as riding in the parade.
The girls made snowmen ornaments this month and went caroling at an ABLE group home and placed the ornaments on their tree and sang Christmas carols-they did a great job !
In January and February the girls were busy preparing for the expo 2000 event ! They had fun preparing for their beaded keychain event ! The girls worked hard on their booth - they took pictures of each other and then printed out the pictures to place on their trefoils ! They placed these on their background at the Expo. The girls had a lot of visitors to their booth and had a great time ! The girls also participated in Little Theatre where they put on a play entitled "The Mitten" - they did a wonderful job.
The girls also had fun selling cookies - we had many girls who went over the 100 box mark - Great Job Girls !
The girls also completed their creative composing try-it in March. They composed a sign language message, composed a song and poem and composed a painting.
The girls also in March completed their hobby try-it - each girl picked a hobby and demonstrated in to the other girls. They also learned about their leader's hobby of gardening and planted a garden for themselves. In April the girls stayed busy they worked on their movers try-it and made kites. They were excited to fly them ! They also participated in Thinking Day - Diversity Day - they learned about different cultures and how people each have their own unique style. Happy Easter was the theme at our April 20th meeting - the girls finished their movers try-it and made wash cloth bunnies and for the final act of the day - the leaders presented the girls with an Easter Egg hunt ! The girls had fun finding the eggs and looking behind the bunnies for their bag of goodies ! We hope you all had a Happy Easter !
Here we are in May already ! The girls took a field trip to Medora to work on their animal try-it ! They had fun going through the park and looking at the animals ! Then they had a tour with Ranger Sue about animal safety and extinction of certain animals ! To top off the trip the girls had a picnic lunch and ice cream ! They had a great time !
We also had our last meeting at Rocky Butte Park on May 18th - we had hotdogs, chips, pickles and juice ! We also had a little going-away party for one of our leaders ! She will be moving to Arkansas ! We also said goodbye to her duaghter who was a sister scout to our troup ! We will miss them both ! We hope the best for them and hope to keep in touch !
