Education Issues on Congress's Spring Agenda

Many issues currently being debated and acted upon in Congress are carry-overs from the last session. One new and controversial issue which will certainly receive much attention is the Paycheck Protection Act. Similar initiatives are being placed on state ballots around the country, most notably in California where it is receiving a great deal of attention.

Education Savings Accounts Passed Senate by 56-43, 4/23/98; Conference Report Passed House 6/18/98 by 225-197; Conference Report Passed Senate 7/1/98 by 59-36; vetoed by President Clinton 7/21/98; Override unlikely.
