I make them for my family, my children, my friends. I can't stop! I am always designing, cutting, measuring them out in my head, almo t insane with the need to piece and quilt! I don't have enough fabric, and is there ever enough time to finish one and move to the other one? Really, it is a great home feeling to work on a quilt. I apprieciate my family's patience with my obsession. hanks for listening! Carrie |

I can look at a quilt and go home and design it. Might take me a little longer to get the pattern down but usually turns out quite nice. I only sew the top together on the machin and the rest is done by hand.Have a wonderful day. Linda |

I am a beginner at quilting. I love the quilted sewing bag. Where did you get the pattern? I use a small tote bag when I go to class and I always have to "dig" for my notions. Your quilts are beautiful! was wondering, how do you know what color to add when you are piecing small pieces like the star when the smallest piece is 1 inch? I enjoyed sharing my morning coffee with you. Vallerie from Norris, TN USA |

Let me tell you a little about myself. I am 29, married and have no children...unless you want to call our 2 kitties our kids...I do! :) I am an American currently living in Germany due to my husband being in the Army. We have 665 days left to go...but who's counting :) I have been quilting now for 9 years. More off than on though, due to my 80+ hour job as head Technical Support Manager for a local Internet provider. I now work for the government, which is nice in a way but the beauracratic red tape is a nightmare! I work 40 hours a week (only) plus I get Federal Holidays off. But, trying to find a job that suits me is like pulling teeth! Currently I am the Publications Officer--that means, I order and distribute publications. Most of the time I sit in front of the computer and make stuff up to do. One day DH and I will retire and move to FLorida!! I figured, moving to Germany would give me the time I needed to get back to my quilting. I was right about having the time, now all I have to do is find the supplies. Quilting is not very popular here. I say quilting, patchwork or anything like that and they look at me clueless. I have found only one quilt shop in all of Germany and it is a day outing. I travelled there only once just to find that the prices were about $18-$25/meter. All their fabric is imported from the USA aside from the few Holland pieces they had. I also found that there is a PX about an hour from me that has limited stock on 100% cotton. And when I say limited, I mean it! Maybe 10 bolts of different fabric. And their selection does not change very often. I am a member of another group of ladies, and when they found out my predicament, some were so kind and went through their scrap bins and emptied it out and sent it my way. So, to honor them, I decided to make a crazy patchwork quilt. No design whatsoever. Just piece each different shaped piece together. I may add a few embellishments and fancy stitches, but this will be an everyday used quilt...I just bought a King sized bed and don't have anything to cover it with. (Right now, I put 2 queen quilts on it, overlapping in the centre). Then, this mellinium thing hit.... As for the millenium quilt...I have mutated it a tad. I am taking all the scraps people sent and turned it into a "friendship crazy millenium quilt" :) I would like to solicit not just signature squares, but maybe authentic cultural fabric from people all around the world. The first lady to give me this idea sent me a nice block of a lighthouse that resembled one where she lives in New Jersey and she signed it. Another lady's daughter was wonderful and sent me a small pieced block with her signature on it. I do have a few muslin 3" signature squares from some people, but since this is a "crazy" quilt different shapes and sizes are always welcome. But the most part I would really like to see material, or blocks, that remind you of your home with your signature on it. I don't have too many fabrics from outside the USA and would like to get some from other countries as well. If you would like to help me out, I would be willing to send you 3" squares (or whatever you need for your quilt) My fabric bins are mostly scraps so I cannot get Fqs, nor is fabric readily available for me here in Germany. Just let me know via e-mail if you want to help. I am always open for ideas and suggestions. I am sure we could work something out. Thank you for your time and consideration. |
