I spent my whole life going to church and doing what I thought was right to be a Christian. I can tell you honestly I missed the mark for a long time.

1. "Being a church goer does not make you a Christian anymore than going to a garage makes you an automobile" Paul Little pg 88

2. Participating in rituals such as Communion is part of a Christian's life BUT IT DOES NOT MAKE THEM CHRISTIAN.

3. Living according to the teachings of Jesus is not enough.

4. Believing the facts about Jesus ( intellectual assent) does not make you a Christian either

SO WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE A CHRISTIAN? WHY DO PEOPLE NEED JESUS?

First of all because we are human we do wrong things because we have a sinful nature. We all lie, or hate, or are self centred at times. Romans 3:23 says ALL have sinned.

Because of this we are separated from God and there is no way we can be right with Him unless we are perfect. Jesus death on the cross gave us the chance to be right with God because he took the punishment for our sin. Romans 5:8 says "God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us"

So Jesus did His part. What is yours?

BELIEVE This means you must believe that you need Jesus to deal with the sin. You desire Jesus to bring you to a new life. You must give control to Him and make His will the the centre of your life.

RECEIVE
When we receive Christ we make him the closest relationship in our lives. In Revelations 3: 20 Jesus says "Here I am! I stand at the door at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in and eat with him and he with me." So all you need to do is respond to Jesus and say YES come into my life.

BECOME
Becoming a Christian happens when you say a simple prayer. God honours and answers that prayer and will become a part of your life. It is the best thing that can happen to a person. It will change you from the inside. It will give you peace and joy like never before. And you won't be alone. You become part of a family of God. You become my sister or brother in Christ. It is special. You will be loved as never before.

IF YOU ARE READY TO RESPOND IN PRAYER NOW, JUST READ ALOUD THE FOLLOWING PRAYER OR SAY TO JESUS WHAT IS ON YOUR HEART.

DEAR LORD JESUS I REALIZE THAT I AM A SINNER AND I NEED YOU IN MY LIFE
I AM SORRY FOR MY SINS AND I ASK FOR YOUR FORGIVENESS AND THAT BY YOUR DEATH ON THE CROSS I CAN COME INTO A REAL RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU.
I WANT YOU TO BE THE CENTRE OF MY LIFE AND MY LORD. HELP ME TO LEARN ABOUT YOU AND FOLLOW YOUR WILL.
THANK YOU JESUS FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING FOR ME AND I ASK THAT YOU WOULD BRING NEW PEACE, NEW JOY AND NEW LIFE FROM TODAY AND FOREVER.
I ASK THIS IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, WHO IS NOW MY SAVIOR AND LORD.
